First sample has been stitched….materials are fine – the cloth has not stretched or puckered.
Sampling is a working habit I acquired during the City and Guilds program with Gail Harker. Before launching on a significant project every aspect was tested: multiple fabrics, threads, how to assemble, every every aspect was tested.
In a series one has the luxury of having gone through much of that already. Small changes may or may not require a sample piece, but the whole foundation of the piece has to be right hence the sample.
Top photo shows the back; interfacing was from a previous work. Ive used painted muslin overlayered with organza.
