Easy stitching for a couch potato – and it feels useful. I want to wear these jeans again, but it’s too cold for ventilated knees. I usually patch something bright on top, but am trying a Japanese boro approach this time: the inner cloth and the denim are heavily stitched together.
I’ve been patching jeans since I was a teen. It was a good confluence of New England thrift and hippie fashion. Tight budgets as a grad student ensured I would a) wear out my one pair and b) the get the most from them – given to me for college graduation by my mother. In later years I somehow like the freedom of colour and stitch and the process – although denim can be tough to stitch.
